Description:

The Dalmatian Pelican is the largest and most rare of all Pelicans. There are only a few locations throughout Europe, where this bird can be regularly seen. Lake Kerkini in northern Greece is one of them. This workshop provides you with the opportunity to get close to these charismatic birds. We are visiting the site between January and March, when they are showing their distinct breeding plumage – bright red beaks and the typical “crazy hairdo”. Whether from the shore of the lake or from a boat, a wider range of situations will offer you opportunities to use the whole range of your lenses – be creative!
Besides the photogenic Pelicans, there are a number of other interesting species at home on Lake Kerkini during the winter months, for example: Birds of prey, Pygmy Cormorant and Ducks can be seen along the shores. All of this is situated in a beautiful landscape, offering countless motives for photography. We are usually staying in a small hotel in Bulgaria near the Greek border.
Bulgaria also offers the possibility for phantastic pictures of the majestetic Golden Eagle, which you might want to include in your stay. If you like to expand the photo opportunities even more, we can take you to some very attractive spots in Bulgaria, where photography of Nutcrackers and Long-eared Owls is possible. In a small garden, we are running a feeding station, which attracts several species such as Woodpeckers, Tits, Jays and Finches.
Given all these opportunities, the length of this workshop will be agreed upon your desires. Minimum 2 photographers need to sign in for a workshop. If you are planning to travel alone to Bulgaria, we will do our best to find a fellow photographer joining in.

Just contact us and we will develop a tailor-made workshop for you.
